The two centres that the GSPD runs are mainly funded by donations from institutions and philanthropists based in Ghana and
abroad, as well as by subsidized fees from students and trainees. Occasionally, the centre receives
support from the Offinso Municipal Assembly, the Offinso Traditional Council and many organisations
based abroad.
The GSPD is constantly seeking funds to help achieve its goals. Both institutional and individual contributions
are welcome. If you are interested in supporting GSPD, please feel free to
contact us.
- Material support: All supplies that benefit the training centres are welcome. This includes medical supplies,
wheelchairs, crutches, orthotics machinery, physiotherapy equipment, sports/fitness equipment, Carpentry / Sewing / Leatherwork equipment, farm equipment, computers, transportation, teaching material, toys, clothing
- Immaterial support: see volunteering opportunities
- Financial support: Both general and targeted contributions can be made. See below for an overview of current financial needs
- Investment in expanding farming activities (land acquisition, machinery, input materials)
for sustainable food and income generation for the GSPD centres. A 5-year development plan including incestment
planning is available and is currently being implemented.
- A large part of the society's funds go to the provision of orthopedic surgery and the
acquisition of customised prosthetics for resident students. Contributions help reduce our waiting lists. As
an indication, a typical surgical intervention including hostpital stay, orthotics and rehabilitation costs
around 2,000. By and large, disabled people in Ghana have no access to health insurance and have to cover their own medical expenses.
- Establishment of new physiotherapy facilities. An investment plan is available.
- Feasibility study into the establishment of formal on-site classroom education
- Acquisition of a 33-seater bus to transport students to medical facilities
and organise excursions/tours for those who are confined
