Physiotherapy department
The physiotherapy department is run by temporary physical- and kinesiotherapists who work as volunteers. Since there is a shortage of trained physical therapists in Ghana, the centre depends mostly on physio- and kinesiotherapists coming from overseas. The continuity of this voluntary work is extremely important in order to ensure that patients reap the full benefits from their therapy. Currently, Sanne van der Poel (a Dutch kinesiotherapist) is setting up a program to ensure this continuity. With support of physiotherapy organisations and universities in Europe she recruits qualified temporary therapists.
