An important goal of the GSPD is the provision of access to orthopedic surgery for its students. These specialised skills are scarce, and the GSPD works together with a number of hospitals that are capable of performing these interventions. One of these is the St. John's Hospital located at Duayaw Nkwanta, which is about a two hour drive from Offinso. Although there is a small fund for the most acute medical aid, the GSPD is dependent on gifts and donations to cover medical expenses.
Depending on the type of intervention and its complexity, rehabilitation takes place at these hospitals or at the GSPD centre in Maase that has a basic physiotherapy facility.
