Farming activities
Historically, the GSPD has been involved in farming activities with the aim of teaching resident students skills that will help them engage in farming independently after their graduation. Currently, the GSPD owns over 60 acres of farmland and is involved in livestock (poultry, goats, pigs), crop farming (Maize, Plantain, Cocoyam) and citrus farming.

Farm development strategy
The two GSPD centres are located in a forest/savannah transition ecological zone that forms one of the major food providing areas of Ghana. Close to the centres are three major markets that serve as trading hubs to the rest of the country: Kumasi, Abofour and Techiman.

The GSPD is investing in expanding the agriculture activities in order to benefit from this potential. With the support of the Ghana Ministry of Food & Agriculture, Municipal Directorate, a detailed 5-year plan was developed outlining the growth strategy. The objectives of this project are:

Farmland Sharpening tools Weeding

Under the 5-year development plan, farming activities are expanded to include Palm Oil, Jatropha, Maize, Plantain, Citrus and Cattle farming. Currently, the project is in its first year of implementation. The vast majority of farm activities is performed by students. The Municipal Director of Food & Agriculture pays periodic on-site visits to monitor progress and provide technical support.
